Volunteering @ Grace
The Grace Centre for Children and Families, in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia is unable to provide all the services you see on this website without the tireless efforts of our volunteers, short term mission teams who visit regularly and carry out specific project work, and our committed Grace Staff. If you have two weeks or two years we will be happy to hear from you. Your specific skills and abilities can be used in a variety of different ways in the current project areas.
Short Term Teams
Throughout the year we have groups of Christian volunteers to the Grace Centre to spend 10 days to 4 weeks helping with specific projects, repairs and outreach.
The type of work carried out varies from trip to trip and the tasks are very much controlled by the current needs of the centre. The work can range from building fences, painting, helping out with the day care and afterschool care centres, to teaching or tutoring sponsor children, and general handy person jobs.
Outreach includes prayer walking, encouraging and supporting the staff and volunteers, and providing assistance with the existing bible study groups and boys mentor group.
International Volunteers
The Grace Centre for Children and Families, Ethiopia has long term Christian volunteers who commit to spending anywhere from 2 months to 2 years to development, training and working at the Grace Centre projects in Bahir Dar. While the cost to live in Bahir Dar is not high by western standards, it is important to note that volunteers need to be self-funded. All our non-Ethiopian staff members are financially supported through their churches in their 'home' countries.
