The foundation on which Grace is being built is the belief that the first option for any child should be for them to stay within their family, either immediate or with the closest relative(s) who are willing and able to care for them. Where this is not possible, either temporarily or permanently, Grace aims to provide options for children and families.
Daily Childcare (Day Care) assists families assessed as needing basic assistance. These are families who are capable of work, but unable due to having young children. Day Care will be a means for these families to be able to work, knowing that their children are receiving quality care, and therefore provide for themselves. This may also provide opportunity for older siblings who have been responsible for caring for younger siblings, to attend school through the sponsorship programme.
Children will be eligible for Day Care from 1 year to 3 years. Children under the age of 1 year will be considered on a needs basis, e.g. children in relative care ie not parental care, or where feeding mothers are still able to breastfeed their infants.
The Grace Day Care runs programs for the children based on their age and ability. There is a toddler program which is play based while the older preschool children learn, numbers, letters, colours and social skills, also in a play based environment.
Children are provided with breakfast and lunch as well as 2 snacks during the day with fresh fruit and vegetables as well as protien in the form of dairy, meat and lentils.
