Sponsorship

The first option for any child referred to the program would be to see them become a part of the Sponsorship Program, to assist their families to provide care and education. Therefore, the first stage of the proposed project will consist of the sponsorship program for school aged children and a childcare centre for children too young to attend school. The sponsorship is for children ages 3 and up, and will ultimately culminate in their finishing of their education or vocational training.

Children will be considered for the sponsorship program from age 3 years. Their case will be considered by the screening committee consisting of Grace administration and advised by local authorities. Children will be selected on an individual basis according to a specific set of criteria to identify the child’s needs and risk.

Sponsorship will be distributed to the child, in the form of food, clothing and education/educational assistance. Education will be provided at the Catholic School in Kebele 13, as they are able to offer KG through to Grade 12 at a high standard. The possibility exists for developing a Grace school in the Mid- to Long-Term if the number of children involved in the project grows beyond the facilities of the Catholic school. Some children will be offered vocational training, in many areas depending upon their interest, aptitude, skills and abilities. Additionally, Tertiary Education Scholarships will also be available to children who show aptitude in specific academic areas.

To assist the children to reach their potential, Grace will provide children with the opportunity for extra tuition after school in any academic area that they need assistance. This will be provided at the main compound where the children will be brought by “Grace” buses. Sponsored children will also be offered extra curricular programs such as sport (soccer, track, basketball and volleyball), arts classes (music, art, photography, dance etc) and personal care and hygiene classes.

A before and after school care program will be provided at the Grace Centre. Children will be fed two meals per day, breakfast and lunch. Both meals will be provided at the school. These will be nutritious, filling, good tasting, and traditional style meals. This is to ensure that the children are kept healthy, giving them the best chance to do well at school, and have energy to get through the day.

We currently have 11 school age children in need of sponsorship.

When you sponsor a child you will recieve regular updates and pictures.
